These look good! But i admit im a bit fuzzy on using them. So..ive downloaded them into photoshops preset> textures folder. Now i open photoshop with an image ready and waiting for a texture. How do i use it?? Thanks!
You don't actually need an image open to run the Ray's Woods 2006 - if you have the actions loaded, the actions can be run by opening the folder in the action palette.

In the folder will be several labeled actions - oak/pine, etc.

Click on one of these that you would like to try out.

Once the specific action is selected, click on the "play" arrow on the bottom of the palette. It will be beside other controls that look similar to the ones on a media player or an old tape deck.

Once the action is running, it will prompt you when necessary for input. Follow those directions, and the texture should be produced with minimal effort. :)

The only one that has some odd results sometimes is the Rosewood action. If the results are what you are looking for, sometimes it will be necessary to rerun the action a second time.

Ta-da! Should be perfect :)

Hope that's helpful to you.
hi beanslayer
i've used some of you textures in the above screenshot to make several wood themes for gnome on the linux desktop. i'm not 100% certain that i'm going to release them, but just in case, i would like your permission to use them in my themes and then to publish them on [link]
i can link back to your profile if you like when i give you credit.
i will also post back if an when i do release them.
That's cool. You have my permission ^_^
thanks :). i'll post back when they're (eventually) fully finished.
I'll look forward to it. :)
i've just released one of my themes here: [link]
let me know what you think of it, anyway.
The site seems to be down... I'll try again tomorrow ^_^
